Unveiling Resident Evil Requiem: A Thrilling Blend of Survival Horror and Action

Capcom revealed exciting new details about Resident Evil Requiem in the latest Resident Evil Showcase. Director Koshi Nakanishi showcased how the upcoming game strikes a balance between survival horror and action, catering to fans of both styles. Players can expect unique gameplay experiences with veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Grace, each offering distinct challenges and gameplay mechanics.

Grace's gameplay segments in Resident Evil Requiem aim to deliver a tense and claustrophobic experience reminiscent of Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 remake. Players controlling Grace will face limited resources in enclosed spaces, forcing them to make strategic decisions between fighting and fleeing. Her powerful weapon, the "Requiem," serves as a rare but potent defense tool. On the other hand, Leon's gameplay focuses on intense survival action inspired by Resident Evil 4, featuring new combat mechanics like a tomahawk for parrying attacks and a refined gunplay system.

A notable addition to Resident Evil Requiem is the introduction of a "personality" system for zombies, where undead characters exhibit behaviors based on their past lives. This system adds depth to gameplay, allowing players to exploit zombie traits for tactical advantages. The game also introduces a crafting system that enables players to create items using blood from infected enemies, enhancing combat strategies. Players can switch between two camera perspectives seamlessly during gameplay.

The showcase also highlighted technical enhancements and collaborations for Resident Evil Requiem. The game will support DLSS 4 and ray tracing on PC in partnership with Nvidia. Collaborations with Porsche and Hamilton bring custom in-game vehicles and limited-edition watches to the game. Additionally, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village Gold Editions will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 alongside Resident Evil Requiem, with teasers for upcoming amiibo figures and a custom Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to release on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, Epic Games Store, and Nvidia GeForce Now.
