John Mellencamp's Dancing Words Tour - The Greatest Hits: Experience the Iconic Rocker Live in Concert This Summer!
John Mellencamp is set to hit the road this summer for his Dancing Words Tour - The Greatest Hits, featuring a 19-date run of U.S. amphitheaters. The 74-year-old rocker will be performing his biggest collection of hits in decades, starting on July 10 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and concluding on Aug. 12 in Mountain View, California. Stops along the way include Tinley Park, Illinois, on July 11 and Hollywood Bowl on Aug. 10.
To announce the tour, Mellencamp released a short film starring Sean Penn, where they discuss the idea of doing a greatest hits run. Mellencamp reflects on his hits, including the iconic "Jack & Diane," which spent four weeks at No. 1 in 1982. Despite initially avoiding playing the song, he plans to perform a soul mashup version of it on the tour.
The tour will feature a selection of Mellencamp's chart-topping hits from 1979 to 1996, with a focus on the first 20 shows. Mellencamp expressed his preference for keeping the tour limited to the announced dates and not extending it or taking it overseas. Tickets for the tour will go on sale on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. local time on mellencamp.com, with a Citi presale starting on Jan. 20.
