Unveiling the Vibrant Music Scene at Lil' Brick Theatre: A Central Valley Collaboration

The Lil' Brick Theatre, also known as the Hanford Multicultural Theatre Company (HMTC), has recently welcomed Ted Hillman as the interim tech director following the sudden passing of the former tech director, Scott. Ted, with his background as a former backline engineer for reggae bands, brings a wealth of experience to the theatre.

Since joining the Lil' Brick Theatre, Ted has been impressed by its potential to host live concerts and comedy shows. The theatre has already seen success with various productions, including plays, puppet shows, and comedy events. Ted's goal for 2026 is to create a local ecosystem for Central Valley musicians to collaborate and perform.

HMTC is a non-profit organization in downtown Hanford that offers acting classes, improv classes, and open mic nights for local artists to showcase their talents. The intimate setting of the theatre, with seating for just over 60 people, provides a perfect space for artists to hone their craft and gain valuable stage time.

Small venues like the Lil' Brick Theatre play a crucial role in the local art scene by providing performers with opportunities to showcase their talents in a professional setting. The theatre is excited to welcome Central Valley musicians to an Open House event on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, where musicians of all skill levels can connect and collaborate. Join us at 119 ½ Douty St. from 2-6 p.m. for complimentary snacks and refreshments.

Experience the vibrant and creative atmosphere of the Lil' Brick Theatre, the cultural and creative hub of the San Joaquin Valley. Ted Hillman, the interim sound and lights director, looks forward to meeting and working with local musicians to further enhance the artistic community at HMTC.
