LAFC and Midfielder Yaw Yeboah Mutually Agree to Part Ways: Contract Termination and Investigation Update

Los Angeles Football Club and midfielder Yaw Yeboah have mutually agreed to part ways. The two-year deal Yeboah signed with LAFC, including a club option for 2027, has been terminated. Yeboah, a 28-year-old midfielder from Accra, Ghana, has been on administrative leave from Major League Soccer since October 25 pending a league review for potential violations of MLS rules. Derrick Jones, a former teammate of Yeboah's with the Columbus Crew in 2024, is also on administrative leave. The investigation is ongoing, with no details provided by MLS or LAFC. Yeboah, who received $550,000 in guaranteed compensation during his first year with LAFC, scored a goal and provided an assist in 17 MLS appearances. He also had appearances in FIFA Club World Cup contests and Leagues Cup matches. The termination of Yeboah's contract came after other clubs approached LAFC about him. This move allows LAFC to free up cap space and an international roster slot for the upcoming 2026 season, which kicks off on February 17 with CONCACAF Champions Cup action against Real EspaƱa in Honduras.
