Rising Trend of Pokémon Store Robberies: Recent Incidents in Manhattan and California

A Pokémon store in Manhattan was robbed by three individuals who brandished a gun and used a hammer to break display cases. The incident occurred at Poké Court on 13th Street, with security footage capturing the robbers in all black attire. Customers and employees were present during the robbery, with one of the robbers pointing a handgun at customers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
The NYPD did not disclose the exact amount stolen during the robbery, but store owner Courtney Chin estimated that approximately $100,000 worth of merchandise was taken. Employees reported that the robbers entered the store, displayed firearms, and proceeded to steal merchandise, money, and a woman's cellphone. Despite the incident, no arrests have been made by the police.
In a separate incident in California, card stores have also been targeted by robbers for Pokémon cards. In Burbank, thieves broke into LA Sports Cards and stole merchandise, including Pokémon cards, valued at around $100,000. Four individuals were arrested in connection with the burglary. Additionally, in West Los Angeles, a customer leaving a card store was robbed of his Pokémon collection, estimated to be worth $300,000.
The recent robberies at Pokémon stores highlight the growing trend of theft targeting valuable merchandise like Pokémon cards. Store owners and customers are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the security of their belongings.
