Chaos at the Arizona Athletic Grounds: Youth Sports Tournament Cancelled After Massive Brawl
A youth sports tournament at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, AZ, was abruptly cancelled due to a large fight that erupted at the event. Mesa police were alerted to the altercation around 1 p.m. when off-duty officers on-site reported a brawl involving approximately 100 individuals on a soccer field. The skirmish apparently started between players from both teams during a game and quickly escalated as parents and spectators joined in, prompting a significant police response from Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek, and MCSO. After 45 minutes, law enforcement managed to disperse the crowd and cancel all remaining games scheduled for the tournament. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries to players, parents, or spectators, and no arrests were made in connection with the incident.
