Kenny Chesney Opens Up About Overcoming Public Speaking Anxiety and Embracing New Challenges

Kenny Chesney, a renowned country music artist, recently opened up about his discomfort in social situations that require him to speak publicly. In a conversation with Rob Lowe on the Literally! With Rob Lowe podcast, Chesney shared his anxiety about addressing a small group of people, especially when asked to say a prayer before a meal. Despite his experience performing for large crowds, speaking engagements still make him nervous.
The discussion arose while Chesney and Lowe talked about the release of Chesney's memoir, Heart Life Music, and his subsequent book tour. Chesney admitted that speaking to a smaller audience of 600 was a different challenge compared to singing to thousands of fans. However, he acknowledged that he is gradually improving in this aspect.
Chesney also mentioned his experience performing at The Sphere, a unique venue in Las Vegas where he has a residency. The immersive production capabilities of The Sphere posed a new challenge for Chesney, who initially struggled to adapt to the elaborate setup. During the first night of his residency, he even forgot the lyrics to some of his songs, leading to a candid moment with the audience.
Despite the initial challenges, Chesney is set to return to The Sphere for another series of shows in 2026. His willingness to embrace new experiences and overcome his fears demonstrates his dedication to his craft and his commitment to delivering memorable performances to his fans.
