Exploring Creativity and Innovation: A Preview of the 24th Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum Lineup

The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFF) has announced the lineup of 17 projects selected for the 24th Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF). The forum will feature projects in scriptwriting and financing stages, presented as part of the HKIFF Industry Project Market. The submissions for this year's forum came from 38 countries and regions, with Asian entries making up 82% of the total.
The selected projects include a mix of emerging talent and established industry figures serving as producers. New directors like Sasha Chuk, Story Chen Jianying, and Emma Kawawada are featured, alongside veteran filmmakers Stanley Kwan, Anthony Chen, and Shiina Yasushi in producing roles. The projects cover a range of genres, from drama to comedy to fantasy and absurdist themes.
Among the projects highlighted are collaborations between filmmakers from different countries, such as Vincci Cheuk and Japanese producer Koga Shunsuke's intergenerational comedy "38.83" and the narrative exploring conflicted identities in Guo Yu-tian's "Forgetting She is She." The lineup also includes projects examining themes of love, bereavement, revenge, and border-related issues, showcasing diverse storytelling perspectives.
The selected projects offer a glimpse into the creativity and innovation of filmmakers in the Asian region, with a focus on storytelling that resonates with global audiences. The HAF provides a platform for filmmakers to connect with industry professionals, secure financing, and bring their projects to life on the big screen. Stay tuned for more updates on additional selections and announcements leading up to the forum in March.
