Country Music Artist Craig Morgan Reflects on Promotion to Chief Warrant Officer Two at the Pentagon

Country music artist Craig Morgan expressed his gratitude for being promoted to chief warrant officer two (CW2) at the Pentagon. He shared his feelings about the ceremony and being promoted by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, emphasizing the honor he felt during the event.

After serving for twenty years while pursuing a successful music career, Morgan reflected on the feelings of humility and pride that overwhelmed him at the time of his promotion. He highlighted the significance of representing the nation and fellow service members with pride and humility, values he believes are well-balanced in the military, particularly in the Army.

Morgan mentioned that any member of the U.S. military seeking a senior officer like Hegseth to promote them could simply reach out via email. The timing aligned for Morgan and Hegseth to meet in D.C., where Morgan was working on a suicide prevention program for the Army and discussing a music program.

In 2023, at the age of 59, Morgan reenlisted in the Army Reserve, adding to his 17 years of service with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions. He held the rank of staff sergeant before his recent promotion and continued to balance his music career with his service in the Army Reserve.

Morgan's dedication to the military extended beyond his service, as he collaborated with the USO and received accolades such as the Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Medal and the USO Merit Award. In an interview, he reflected on the challenges of balancing his music career and military service, ultimately deciding to reenlist due to the support he now has in managing his music business.

Acknowledging his growth and reliance on military resources, Morgan emphasized the importance of teamwork and utilizing available resources as a soldier. He expressed his commitment to serving in the Army due to his physical and mental readiness and his desire to retire officially in service to his country, aiming to have a letter of retirement as a testament to his service.
