Embassy: Sam Heughan to Star in New Geo-Political Action Thriller Series Alongside Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons

Sam Heughan has been cast in the upcoming geo-political action thriller series, Embassy, alongside Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons. The six-part series, produced by AGC Television, Ascendant Fox, and Turbine Studios, will see Heughan playing a British SAS soldier. Christian Alvart, known for his work on films like Case 39 and Dogs of Berlin, will direct two episodes of the series, with John Strickland directing the rest.

Embassy follows Layla, an American diplomat portrayed by Kendrick, who is faced with a difficult decision when armed mercenaries attack the U.S. Embassy in London. She must choose between protecting the U.S. Ambassador (Simmons) or extracting a high-value asset as per his orders. To navigate this tense situation, she enlists the help of her ex-fiancé, Connor Wright (Heughan), a battle-hardened soldier.

Heughan, known for his role in the popular series Outlander, is set to conclude the show's eighth and final season in March. He has also appeared in films like Love Again and The Spy Who Dumped Me. Alvart, on the other hand, has a background in directing thrillers and crime series, including Dogs of Berlin and Cut Off.

Embassy is created and written by Rom Lotan, with an impressive lineup of executive producers including Strickland, Hester Ruoff, Bart Ruspoli, and more. Production for the series is scheduled to start next month in London and Cologne, with AGC Television handling international financing and distribution. While the show has yet to secure a broadcaster or streaming platform, it represents a growing trend of independently-financed TV series.

Heughan is represented by United Agents, UTA, Anonymous Content, and Viewpoint, while Alvart is represented by Players Management and Ensemble Entertainment. The negotiations for the series were managed by Sam Williams for Ascendant Fox, Matthias Braun for Turbine Studios, and Conor McElroy for AGC. Embassy promises to be an exciting addition to the action thriller genre, with a talented cast and crew bringing the story to life.
