Jason Momoa's Future in the DC Universe: From Aquaman to Lobo

Zack Snyder has recently shared a new photo of Jason Momoa as Aquaman, a character that made his debut in the DC Extended Universe in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Momoa reprised his role in Justice League and its director’s cut, playing a crucial part in the storyline. The character has since appeared in his standalone films, Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, as well as in brief appearances in Peacemaker and The Flash.

In a recent social media post, Zack Snyder shared two photos from 2016, one featuring Jason Momoa in his Aquaman costume on the set of Justice League, holding a guitar with a serious expression. The other photo shows Ezra Miller in his Flash costume, looking at a picture of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. Snyder captioned the post with “2 more from 2016.”

Among the main cast members of Justice League, Jason Momoa stands out as the only one with upcoming projects in the DC Universe. He is set to portray the character Lobo in James Gunn’s DC Universe, making his debut in the film Supergirl, scheduled for release on June 26, 2026. In the movie, Lobo will be one of the main antagonists alongside Matthias Schoenaerts’ Krem of the Yellow Hills.

Jason Momoa’s casting as Lobo came after his expressed interest in the role on multiple occasions. In an interview while promoting Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Momoa revealed that he initially thought he would be playing Lobo in the DC Extended Universe before landing the role of Aquaman. He has described playing Lobo as his “ultimate dream.”

Looking ahead, it remains uncertain where Jason Momoa’s Lobo will appear in the DC Universe after Supergirl. However, given Momoa’s passion for the character and James Gunn’s admiration for his portrayal, there is a possibility of a solo project for Lobo in the future.
