Silence on Illegal Immigrant Crimes: Minnesota Democratic Leaders Under Fire

Minnesota Democratic leaders have been silent on multiple killings by illegal immigrants in the state, despite their quick response to the recent death of a woman who was shot by an ICE officer. The woman, Renee Good, allegedly drove her vehicle toward the officer during an ICE operation, prompting the officer to fire in self-defense. Democratic leaders have criticized ICE but have not addressed crimes committed by illegal immigrants in the state.
Several deadly incidents involving illegal immigrants in Minnesota have not received public statements from Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, or Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. These incidents include a drunk driving crash that killed a mother, a fatal hit-and-run involving a 16-year-old, and a smuggling conspiracy that led to the deaths of the Patel family. Other violent crimes committed by individuals residing in the U.S. illegally include the murder of a 90-year-old farmer and the decapitation of a girlfriend.
ICE operations in Minnesota have resulted in the removal of 2,500 criminal aliens linked to violent crimes, with 1,360 more in city custody under ICE detainers. Despite federal pressure to cooperate with immigration enforcement, Minnesota leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to sanctuary city policies. The Minneapolis City Council recently expanded protections for illegal immigrants by restricting city employees from assisting in federal immigration enforcement.
Federal officials, including DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, have urged Minnesota leaders to cooperate with federal enforcement efforts. President Donald Trump has warned of potential military intervention if immigration enforcement is obstructed in the state. The Department of Justice has initiated a federal investigation into Gov. Walz and Mayor Frey for allegedly impeding immigration operations.
