Timothy Busfield Removed from Film and TV Projects Amid Child Sex Abuse Allegations

Timothy Busfield's involvement in the upcoming romantic comedy film starring Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy has been impacted by his recent arrest on charges related to child sex abuse. Reports have confirmed that Busfield, 68, will be removed from the movie "You Deserve Each Other" due to his legal issues. Additionally, an episode of Law & Order: SVU featuring Busfield has been put on hold by NBC.
The arrest warrant issued for Busfield includes charges of criminal sexual contact of a minor and child abuse. Allegations state that Busfield behaved inappropriately towards a child actor on the set of Fox's The Cleaning Lady, where he directed several episodes. The child, who was 7 years old at the time, reportedly felt fearful of Busfield and was hesitant to speak out due to his position as the director.
Legal documents reveal that the Albuquerque Police Department investigated the claims against Busfield, who denied any physical contact with the child actor. He mentioned having a friendly relationship with the kids and their family outside of work, stating that any interactions would have been in the presence of parents.
Despite maintaining his innocence and turning himself in to authorities, Busfield faces serious legal consequences if convicted. He appeared in court wearing an orange jumpsuit and did not enter a plea. The Bernalillo County District Attorney's Office has stated that Busfield could potentially receive a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
