Jason Moore to Direct 'Murder She Wrote' Adaptation: A New Chapter in the Iconic Series

The upcoming adaptation of the popular series "Murder She Wrote" by Jamie Lee Curtis has secured a director. Jason Moore, known for directing "Pitch Perfect" and the upcoming "Legally Blonde" prequel series, will be at the helm for Universal. The script will be written by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, with Amy Pascal and Lord Miller serving as producers. Moore's successful track record includes the "Pitch Perfect" franchise, as well as films like "Sisters" and "Shotgun Wedding."

In addition to "Murder She Wrote," Moore has directed the pilot and served as an executive producer for the "Legally Blonde" prequel TV series coming to Prime Video. He is also set to direct the revival of "Avenue Q" on the West End and two book adaptations. The project holds significance for NBCU as the original series was produced by Universal Television from 1984 to 1996. The collaboration between Pascal, Lord Miller, and Aditya Sood under Lord Miller's first look deal at Universal promises a fresh take on the iconic character Jessica Fletcher.

Moore's representation includes WME and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox. Pascal is represented by CAA, Lord Miller by UTA and JSSK, and Blum and Angelo by CAA, LBI Entertainment, and Warren Dern. Lexi Barta and Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for Universal Pictures. The combination of Moore's directorial talent and the creative team's vision for the series sets the stage for an exciting new chapter in the "Murder She Wrote" legacy.
