Man Sentenced to 23 Years for Enticing Minors in Weslaco, Texas

A man from Weslaco, Texas, was sentenced to 23 years in prison for enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity. Walter Phillip Wilkins, 24, contacted several girls on Instagram, promising drugs or vape pens and requesting nude photos to blackmail them. Wilkins sexually assaulted the girls after meeting them in person, leading to his arrest and charges of sexual assault. He preyed on girls in Weslaco and rural areas of Hidalgo County, with multiple complaints filed against him in 2022 and 2023. Wilkins faced charges of sexual assault and continuous sexual abuse of a young child, eventually pleading guilty to three counts of enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison and will be on supervised release for life.
