DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin emphasized the removal of violent criminal illegal aliens from Minnesota streets, pointing out that many of these threats had been released from Minnesota jails. DHS is urging Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey to honor ICE detainers for over 1,360 illegal immigrants in state jails. Among the individuals arrested during Operation Metro Surge were Jose Eliborio Ocampo-Leon, Rudy Alexander Pineda-Aguilar, Gerardo Sanchez-Acuna, Jeffrey Alexander Roman-Rabanales, Salvador Salazar-Rivera, and Ayro Ariel Mimbrera-Fernandez. These individuals, hailing from Mexico and Guatemala, had prior convictions for offenses such as criminal sexual conduct, drug trafficking, assault, domestic violence, and theft. Mimbrera-Fernandez also had an outstanding federal arrest warrant for amphetamine sale and a previous conviction for driving while intoxicated.
