Seattle Light Rail Station Closure for Signal Improvements: Weekend Transportation Updates

This weekend, five light rail stations will temporarily close to allow for signal improvements in downtown Seattle. The affected stations include Westlake, Symphony, Pioneer Square, International District/Chinatown, and Stadium. The closure will begin on Friday at 10 p.m. and last throughout Saturday. During this time, train service will run every 15 minutes between Lynnwood and Capitol Hill, as well as between Sodo and Federal Way. Shuttle buses will be available near the closed stations. Normal service will resume on Sunday, with trains arriving every 10 minutes, including additional trains to accommodate postgame crowds.
The closure is necessary for ongoing work on signal improvements to ensure the safe operation of the upcoming 2 Line trains from the Eastside. Seahawks gameday trains will operate for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams, with Sounder trains departing from Lakewood and Everett Station. Fans are encouraged to utilize the new Federal Way-area light rail stations, which offer ample parking space. Interstate 405 in Kirkland will also experience lane reductions over the weekend due to construction activities.
Additionally, Highway 530 has reopened between Darrington and Rockport following repairs from December flooding. The road was closed after 300 feet of pavement were damaged but has since been restored. These transportation updates aim to provide efficient travel options for fans attending the Seahawks playoff game and other commuters during the weekend.
