New York Giants Make Coaching Moves: Taggart Joins Staff, Harbaugh Brings Familiar Faces
The coaching carousel is in full swing as teams at both the college and professional levels are looking to finalize their staff for the upcoming 2026 season. As the NFL conference championship games approach, teams that are not in contention are already making moves to bolster their coaching staff.
The New York Giants recently made a significant addition by signing Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh will be bringing a familiar face from Florida State with him to East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Giants had expressed interest in former FSU head coach Willie Taggart for the offensive coordinator position. However, it is now expected that Ravens' OC Todd Monken will take on the role, unless he lands the head coaching job with the Cleveland Browns. Taggart's addition to the Giants' staff has been reported, although not officially announced.
Taggart has an extensive coaching background at the collegiate level, with previous stops at Western Kentucky, South Florida, Oregon, and Florida Atlantic. He joined FSU in 2017 as the head coach, but parted ways after two seasons. He then moved on to FAU before joining the Ravens as the running backs coach under Harbaugh.
During his time in Baltimore, Taggart was promoted to assistant head coach and led the running backs group. He has a history of working with the Harbaugh family, having played for and coached under Jack Harbaugh at Western Kentucky and worked with Jim Harbaugh at Stanford. If Taggart joins the Giants, he would be inheriting a talented running back in Cam Skattebo, who showed promise before his injury.
Taggart's experience in developing running backs, including his work with Derek Henry in Baltimore, could be valuable for the Giants as they look to strengthen their rushing game.
