His Lordship's 'Bored Animal': A Raw and Intense Blend of Garage-Rooted R&B

His Lordship, the band formed by Pretenders' sidemen James Walbourne and Kris Sonne, has released their second album, "Bored Animal," which is a high-energy blend of garage-rooted R&B. The album features tracks like "I Fly Planes Into Hurricanes" and "The Sadness Of King Kong," showcasing a raw and intense rock'n'roll sound with psychedelic elements. The band recently performed in the US, including a show in St. Louis and a gig for Chuck Berry's birthday.

Walbourne shared that playing in the US, the birthplace of the music he loves, has been a thrilling experience. The band's live performances have been well-received, and they are planning to tour extensively next year. The album was recorded live at Edwyn Collins's studio in Scotland, capturing the spontaneous energy of the duo's guitar and drum performances. The raw and unpolished sound of the album was intentional, leaving in imperfections to maintain the authenticity of the music.

Despite the garage rock sound of the album, Walbourne emphasized that His Lordship is not limited to a specific genre and is open to exploring different musical styles in the future. The band's album artwork, created by Kris's wife, reflects their desire to maintain a sense of unpredictability and creativity in their image. With a touch of humor in their music, His Lordship aims to bring joy and light to their audience, especially in challenging times.
