Indigenous Leader Jim Morrison Honored with Medal of the Order of Australia: A Champion for Reconciliation and Indigenous Rights

Indigenous leader Jim Morrison has been honored with the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Honours. Morrison's dedication to the Indigenous community in Western Australia, particularly through his establishment of Yokai – the West Australian Stolen Generations Aboriginal Corporation, has been acknowledged. He has also been involved in various reconciliation initiatives and was the founder of Queers for Reconciliation, a movement promoting LGBTIQA+ community participation in reconciliation efforts. Morrison co-hosts the radio show Moorditj Mag on RTRFM 92.1 and has highlighted Indigenous issues in the documentary Genocide in the Wildflower State, where he served as an Executive Producer.

Yokai shared a social media post featuring Morrison and Professor Fiona Stanley, who emphasized that the award not only recognizes Morrison's contributions but also the causes he supports. Congratulations to Uncle Jim on this well-deserved recognition!
