The Spy Who Came In From The Cold: Ralf Little Takes on Iconic Role in Stage Adaptation

Renowned actor Ralf Little is set to take on the role of secret service agent Alec Leamas in the stage adaptation of John le Carré’s Cold War classic, The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. Little expressed his excitement at the opportunity to portray the disillusioned British intelligence officer on a dangerous mission in Berlin. The UK tour of the production will kick off in March, visiting major cities such as Newcastle, Glasgow, York, Edinburgh, and Birmingham.

This adaptation of Le Carré’s novel is a significant milestone as the first of his works to be brought to the stage. Following a successful run at Chichester Festival Theatre, the play made its way to London’s West End. Little, who has a deep connection to the story since reading it at 16, praised the script by David Eldridge for its captivating twists and turns in the high-stakes game between East and West.

The actor highlighted the contemporary relevance of the play, noting how it resonates with current times despite being written in the 1960s. Little looks forward to sharing this gripping story with audiences across the UK during the tour, engaging both existing fans and new viewers.

In addition to his television work, including roles in Death In Paradise and The Royle Family, Little has a successful theatre career, earning an Olivier nomination for Presence and appearing in the National Theatre’s Ugly Lies The Bone. The stage adaptation, written by Eldridge and directed by Jeremy Herrin, will feature Little in the lead role and is scheduled to start at the Curve Theatre in Leicester on March 12, running until August 22, 2026. Stay tuned for more updates on the casting for this highly anticipated production.
