Canada Soccer U-17 Women's National Team Roster Announced for Spain Camp: Preparing for CONCACAF Qualifiers

Canada Soccer has announced a 24-player roster for an upcoming camp in Spain in preparation for the CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship Qualifiers. The roster includes returning players from last year's U-17 Women’s World Cup squad, such as Melyna Alexis, Gabriela Istocki, Lacey Kindel, and Reed Tingley. The camp will take place in Salou from Feb. 2-14 and will feature three international matches against Andorra and Finland. Jesse Acteson will lead the team during the camp while head coach Jen Herst recovers from a medical procedure. The camp aims to integrate returning players and new talent as they prepare for the upcoming qualifiers in March.
Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. have received a bye in the first round of CONCACAF qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The remaining 28 countries will compete for eight spots in the final qualifying round. The 12-team final round will determine the four representatives from North and Central America and the Caribbean at the World Cup in Morocco. Canada has participated in eight of the nine previous editions of the tournament, with its best finish being fourth in 2018.
