Ana de Armas to Star in Thriller 'Sweat' Directed by J Blakeson: A Dark Tale of Social Media Obsession
Ana de Armas has been cast in the lead role of Emma Kent, an aspiring fitness influencer, in the upcoming film Sweat directed by J Blakeson. Emma's desire to emulate her social media idol, Kat Highbrook, takes a dark turn when she crosses paths with an obsessive fan named Trent. As Emma navigates the dangerous consequences of her choices, she must confront the lengths she is willing to go for fame.
Sweat is an adaptation of the Polish film of the same name by Magnus von Horn, which premiered at Cannes in 2020. Production for the English-language version is scheduled to begin on March 30 in Los Angeles and the U.K. AGC Studios will finance and co-produce the film, with international sales handled by AGC International. The project will be presented at the European Film Market in Berlin.
Guy Stodel will produce Sweat alongside J Blakeson and AGC's Ford. Ana de Armas, known for her roles in Knives Out, No Time to Die, and Blonde, will take on the challenging role of Emma Kent.
