John Mellencamp is set to embark on a summer tour starting on July 10 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The 74-year-old musician will be performing hits for 2 1/2 hours at various amphitheaters across the country. In a recent Instagram video, Mellencamp shared his preparation for the tour, including walking on a treadmill while smoking cigarettes to get in shape for the upcoming shows.
The upcoming tour, titled The Dancing Worlds Tour — The Greatest Hits, will feature a setlist of popular tracks like "Pink Houses," "Jack and Diane," "Small Town," "Hurts So Good," "Authority Song," and "Key West Intermezzo (I Saw You First)." Fans can also look forward to hearing songs that Mellencamp hasn't performed live in over a decade, such as "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.," "I Need a Lover," "Wild Night," and "Ain't Even Done With the Night."
In addition to the tour, Mellencamp is gearing up to release a new album called Orphan Train later this year. He has described his recent theater performances as more than just concerts, emphasizing the importance of etiquette and audience behavior during his shows. Massachusetts fans can catch him at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield on July 24, while New York fans can see him at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh on July 26.
