Josh Gad to Star in Biopic 'Gerron's Last Film' Directed by Simon Curtis: A Story of Courage and Resilience

Josh Gad, known for his role in Frozen, has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming biopic Gerron’s Last Film, directed by Simon Curtis. The film tells the story of Kurt Gerron, a prominent Jewish actor and director in pre-Nazi Germany who was forced to make a propaganda film in a Jewish ghetto during the Holocaust. Gad expressed his excitement for the project, highlighting its relevance in today's world. Curtis praised the script and Gad's casting, emphasizing the importance of telling Gerron's story and the role of arts in challenging times.

The film, written by Ehud Lavski and Alon Gur Arye, will be produced by Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman Keren of Pie Films. Rocket Science will handle international sales, with CAA Media Finance and WME independent co-repping domestic rights. Gerron’s Last Film is scheduled to start filming later this year and will be presented at the European Film Market in Berlin.

Gad recently completed work on Spaceballs 2 and voiced a character in Zootopia 2. Curtis, known for his work on Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, is set to direct the biopic. The collaboration between Gad and Curtis, along with the compelling story of Kurt Gerron, promises to deliver a thought-provoking and impactful film that resonates with audiences worldwide.
