High Society Predators: The Trial of Real Estate Heirs Accused of Sex Trafficking
Three wealthy real estate heirs are currently on trial in Manhattan, accused of running a sex-trafficking scheme that allegedly used Zac Efron's celebrity status as bait. A woman, identified as Katie Moore, testified that she attended a gathering at Efron's New York City apartment in 2012, which ended in violence. She recounted waking up naked in a different apartment with one of the brothers, Alon Alexander, standing over her. Prosecutors claim that the brothers used their wealth, access, and connections to lower defenses and make invitations appear safe.
The case against the brothers includes charges of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, trafficking by force or coercion, and transporting women across state lines for illegal sexual activity. If convicted, they could face life sentences. Another witness, Maya Miller, testified that she was flown to the Hamptons by one of the brothers and alleged that she was assaulted during the trip. Prosecutors argue that the brothers presented themselves as party boys but were actually predators who used luxury trips and exclusive parties to lure women.
Defense attorneys claim that the encounters were consensual and not trafficking. The trial is ongoing, with prosecutors presenting seized emails, photos, and videos as evidence of the brothers' alleged predatory behavior. The trial is expected to continue for several weeks with more witnesses expected to testify.
