Montreal Canadiens Place Forward Samuel Blais on Waivers Ahead of NHL Olympic Roster Freeze

The Montreal Canadiens have made a move ahead of the National Hockey League’s Olympic roster freeze by placing forward Samuel Blais on waivers. Blais, who has played 13 games for the Canadiens this season, is expected to join the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League during the break. Despite the possibility of being claimed by another team, any claiming team would face the challenge of integrating a player with limited recent game time into their lineup. Blais previously played eight games for the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier in the season. The AHL will continue to play games during the NHL's Olympic hiatus, allowing Blais to clear waivers and be assigned before the roster freeze takes effect.
