Aerosmith's Legendary Edition: A Journey Through Time and Sound

Aerosmith is set to release a special Legendary Edition of their debut album on March 20 through Capitol Records and UMe. Co-founders Steven Tyler and Joe Perry revisited the original recordings, collaborating with producers Zakk Cervini and Steve Berkowitz to create a fresh mix. The 5-LP box set features the remastered original album on 180-gram clear vinyl, a 2024 mix on translucent red vinyl, a live show from 1973 on black vinyl, and previously unreleased studio tracks. Additionally, a 12-inch single with two versions of "Dream On" and a hardback book filled with unseen photos by Ross Halfin are included.

Renowned author Rick Florino penned the liner notes, narrating the band's journey through their own words sourced from new interviews with all five original members. The box set also unfolds into a 3D pop-up display, offering a unique visual experience for fans. Aerosmith's debut album, released in 1973, was recorded at Intermedia Studios in Boston and featured iconic tracks like "Make It," "Mama Kin," and "Dream On." Despite initial challenges, the band's perseverance paid off when "Dream On" gained popularity in 1975, propelling the album to 2x Platinum status.

Aerosmith's enduring success has solidified their status as one of the top-selling American rock bands, with over 90 million albums sold. Their extensive catalog boasts 30 Billboard Top 200 albums and 28 Billboard Hot 100 hits, with "Dream On" alone amassing over 5 billion streams and earning a spot in the GRAMMY Hall of Fame. To give fans a taste of the new edition, the band released "Mama Kin (2024 Mix)" ahead of the album's launch. Fans can also look forward to special fanpacks, including one with the 5 LP set and a stylish satin bomber jacket.
