Infineon Anticipates Surge in Revenue from AI Data Centre Business, Plans Strategic Investments

Infineon, a leading chip manufacturer in Germany, is anticipating a significant increase in revenue from its AI data centre business. The company projects that revenue from this sector will surge by almost two-thirds to 2.5 billion euros by the end of its 2027 fiscal year. To meet this growing demand, Infineon has raised its planned investments, aiming for a chip revenue target of 1.5 billion euros for the current 2026 fiscal year.

In response to the expected surge in demand, Infineon has boosted its planned investments for the 2026 fiscal year by approximately 500 million euros, bringing the total to 2.7 billion euros. This investment will primarily focus on expanding the manufacturing capacity for data centre power supplies. CEO Jochen Hanebeck emphasized the company's commitment to aligning manufacturing capacity with rising demand to better serve its customers.

Infineon recently reported first-quarter group revenue of 3.66 billion euros, slightly exceeding analyst expectations. Despite a 3% decline in revenue for its power and sensor systems segment in the previous quarter, the company anticipates robust growth in this area throughout the year, driven by increasing demand from data centres.

The company's strategic investments and focus on meeting the growing demand for AI data centre chips position Infineon for substantial revenue growth in the coming years. With a strong commitment to expanding manufacturing capacity and serving customers effectively, Infineon is poised to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the evolving technology landscape.
