Behind the Scenes: The Making of Aerosmith and Run-D.M.C.'s 'Walk This Way' Collaboration

Aerosmith and Run-D.M.C. collaborated on the iconic rap-rock crossover hit, Walk This Way, with the help of the Beastie Boys. The production of the song hit a snag, and Rick Rubin suggested adding a bass to the mix. However, neither Aerosmith nor Run-D.M.C. had a bass guitar available. Fortunately, three kids in the studio, including one from the Beastie Boys, offered to fetch a bass from their apartment. The bass was brought back, and Joe Perry played it, completing the track. The collaboration between the rock and rap genres resulted in a chart-topping hit that revitalized Aerosmith's career and showcased diversity on MTV.
