The creative process of writing is truly fascinating, especially when that initial spark of inspiration strikes. The concept for the Opalite music video came to me unexpectedly while promoting The Life of a Showgirl. During a guest appearance on The Graham Norton Show, a popular UK late-night program hosted by the charming Graham Norton, I found myself in the company of talented individuals like Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Smith, and Lewis Capaldi. Their presence sparked an idea that led to the creation of the video.
The casual banter on the show, particularly a lighthearted remark by Domhnall about appearing in one of my music videos, planted the seed for the Opalite video. I seized the opportunity and sent him a script for the video, envisioning a collaboration that would involve not just him but also our fellow guests from The Graham Norton Show. The idea of bringing everyone together for this project was both exciting and ambitious, and to my delight, they all enthusiastically agreed to participate.
The filming of the Opalite video was a joyous experience, filled with creativity, camaraderie, and a touch of nostalgia as we transported ourselves back to the 90s. The involvement of familiar faces from The Eras Tour and the opportunity to work with talented individuals like rpstam added to the magic of the project.
