Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie: FBI Seeks Person of Interest in Kidnapping Case

The FBI Director has shared images of a person of interest in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie. The photos show a large male figure wearing a backpack and a ski mask, with what appears to be a gun in the waistband. The person in the images seems to be tampering with cameras at Nancy Guthrie's home.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31, and authorities believe she was forcibly taken from her Arizona home overnight into Sunday. The FBI is planning to release a surveillance photo of a possible subject, the first in the case since her disappearance. As of Monday, no suspects or persons of interest have been identified in the investigation.

Investigators suspect Guthrie was taken from her home around 2 a.m., based on the timeline of when her home's camera systems were disabled. Blood was found on her porch, and security cameras were disabled, leaving no video evidence. Several news organizations have received ransom notes related to the kidnapping, with the family believing some may be legitimate.

Despite the lack of official authentication, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings are willing to pay the kidnappers for their mother's safe return. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Guthrie's return or an arrest in the case. A ransom note had set a deadline for the family to deliver money for Nancy's return, but the deadline passed without any ransom payment or sighting of Nancy.

Savannah Guthrie posted a video on Instagram asking for the public's help and expressing gratitude for the support received. She urged people to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement, as her family continues to search for her missing mother. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI hotline at 1-800-CALL FBI.
