Rhys Darby to Star in CBS and Warner Bros. Pilot 'Regency' Created by Tara Hernandez
Rhys Darby, known for his roles in Flight of the Conchords and Our Flag Means Death, has landed a lead role in the CBS and Warner Bros. pilot Regency, created by Tara Hernandez. The show is a historical twist on the traditional family sitcom, set in 19th-century England and following the Tillbrook family as they navigate life's challenges. Darby will portray Arthur Tillbrook, the head of the family estate, Hartford Park, who is heir to a cheese empire but strives to maintain his "guy's guy" image despite his privileged background.
If Regency gets picked up for a full series, it will mark a return to CBS for Hernandez, who previously worked on The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. Darby gained fame for his role as Murray Hewitt in Flight of the Conchords and has collaborated with Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie on various projects, including What We Do In The Shadows. His film credits include The Boat That Rocked, Yes Man, and the Jumanji franchise. Darby is represented by UTA, Artists First, and Yorn, Levine.
