Franjo von Allmen Leads Olympic Super-G Event, Eyes Third Gold Medal

Switzerland's Franjo von Allmen took the lead in the Olympic super-G event after the top 20 racers on Wednesday, positioning himself for a potential third gold medal at the Milan Cortina Games. The competition saw 42 racers on a warm day, with a few lower-ranked skiers yet to race, who could potentially shake up the standings. Von Allmen clocked in at 1 minute, 25.32 seconds, securing a slim 0.13-second advantage over American Ryan Cochran-Siegle, while Marco Odermatt of Switzerland currently holds the bronze position. Von Allmen is on the verge of joining the elite club of men's Alpine ski racers who have won three events at a single Winter Olympics, a feat achieved only by Jean-Claude Killy of France and Anton “Toni” Sailer of Austria in the past. The 24-year-old von Allmen had previously won the downhill event and the team combined event with Tanguy Nef. Cochran-Siegle, a silver medalist at the 2022 Beijing Games, is also in contention for a podium finish in the super-G event.
