Acknowledgement of Influence: Ganesha High School Student Art Exhibit Celebrating Black History Month

The Gallery at Hillcrest is set to present an exhibit showcasing the advanced art of Ganesha High School students in grades 10 through 12, starting on February 20 to commemorate Black History Month. The exhibit, titled "Acknowledgement of Influence," will feature graphite portraits and graphic art that pay tribute to influential African American figures in the students' lives. The students have put in significant effort into their creations and will also present essays explaining their pieces.
The gallery opening event is scheduled for Friday, February 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The Gallery at Hillcrest, located at 2705 Mountain View Drive, La Verne, CA 91750. The exhibit will be on display until March, and during the opening, the students will be honored with certificates. The manager of The Gallery at Hillcrest, Barbara Smythe, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase the students' work and highlighted the uniqueness of each gallery opening in terms of art form and subject matter.
The student gallery show is not only a showcase of artistic talent but also a valuable experience for the students, providing them with opportunities to build confidence, speak in front of an audience, and articulate their motivations and techniques. Kevin Tharpe, the Ganesha art instructor, shared that past students have returned to express how participating in the gallery has positively impacted them. Tharpe, who is also the founder of TFGlab.com, will have select works displayed alongside the students' art at The Gallery at Hillcrest.
