Curtis reassured fans that the episodes would eventually air and highlighted that the first two episodes of season 9 were available for streaming. She continued to provide updates on the show's status, promising a return in the fall and later confirming a February comeback. However, the show was ultimately pulled from HGTV following the racial slur controversy.

HGTV responded to the incident by removing Rehab Addict from all platforms, emphasizing their commitment to respect and inclusion. Warner Bros. Discovery subsequently removed the remaining episodes from HGTV's schedule and streaming services.
