Sony's Beatles Biopic: Meet the Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team Behind the Four-Part Film Series
Sony is working on a four-movie Beatles biopic project directed by Sam Mendes, and the ensemble cast has been announced. The cast includes Lucy Boynton as Jane Asher, Farhan Akhtar as Ravi Shankar, Morfydd Clark as Cynthia Lennon, and Harry Lawtey as Stuart Sutcliffe. Boynton is known for her role in Bohemian Rhapsody, while Akhtar has appeared in Bollywood films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and The Sky Is Pink. Clark gained recognition for her role in Saint Maud, and Lawtey has starred in Industry and The Pale Blue Eye.
The quartet joins a star-studded cast that includes Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. The production of the four films has already begun in the U.K., with each film focusing on a different band member. Other cast members include Saoirse Ronan, James Norton, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, Harry Lloyd, and Mia McKenna-Bruce.
The behind-the-scenes team includes cinematographer Greig Fraser, editor Lee Smith, production designers Stefania Cella, Mark Tildesley, and Neal Callow, costume designer Sinéad Kidao, and hair and makeup designer Naomi Donne. Sam Mendes is directing all four films and producing them alongside Neal Street Productions partners Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor. Alexandra Derbyshire is also producing the project. Sony Pictures will finance and distribute the films globally, with a planned release date in April 2028.
