Color Me Cupid: Trey Anastasio Joins Jo Lampert for a Special Valentine's Concert at Joe's Pub

Last night, Trey Anastasio surprised fans by joining Jo Lampert for a special Valentine's concert called Color Me Cupid – A Night for Lovers and Loners at Joe's Pub in the East Village's Public Theater. The Phish frontman and Lampert performed a cover of Talking Heads' "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" together. Lampert praised Anastasio as both an idol and a friend, expressing her gratitude for his presence on stage.
Anastasio's guest appearance occurred towards the end of Lampert's performance, where they were accompanied by a talented band. The duo's rendition of the Talking Heads classic featured a 10-minute jam session that showcased Anastasio's impressive soloing and Lampert's vocal improvisation. Following Anastasio's exit, Lampert closed the show with a surprise cover of Phish's "Waste," with backing vocals from Edie Falco, Nicole Weiss, and Jake Stigers.
This collaboration between Lampert and Anastasio dates back to Phish's 2016 Halloween show, where Lampert contributed vocals to the band's cover of David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Their most recent joint performance was during Anastasio's Beacon Theatre residency in 2021, which also featured Lampert. Fans can watch Anastasio's guest appearance in the full recording of Color Me Cupid for a glimpse of their musical chemistry.
