Focus Features is set to release a new documentary titled "Lorne" on April 17, focusing on the life of Lorne Michaels, the creator of Saturday Night Live. Directed by Morgan Neville, the film aims to shed light on Michaels' influence on American comedy, offering a fresh perspective on the iconic figure. The documentary features appearances from SNL alums such as Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, and Chris Rock, among others.
This collaboration marks the fourth project between Focus and Neville, following successful films like "Piece By Piece" and "Won't You Be My Neighbor?". The documentary is produced by A Tremolo Production, with Focus holding worldwide rights and Universal Pictures International handling international distribution. The announcement of "Lorne" follows the release of a biography on Michaels by Susan Morrison.
Neville, known for his work on projects like "Man on the Run," is set to bring his unique storytelling style to "Lorne," offering audiences a deeper look into the man behind the iconic show. Focus Features has also revealed plans for another documentary, "The AI Doc: Or How I Became An Apocaloptimist," set to premiere in the U.S. on March 27 after its debut at the Sundance Film Festival.
