Remembering Hideki Sato: The Legacy of Sega's Hardware Design Genius

The gaming industry mourns the loss of Hideki Sato, the brilliant hardware designer responsible for Sega's iconic consoles. Sato's legacy includes designing the SG-1000, Master System, Genesis / Mega Drive, Saturn, and Dreamcast, with the Genesis / Mega Drive being the most successful, selling over 30 million units in North America and Europe. Sato's contributions to Sega's Research and Development department and his tenure as Sega president from 2001 to 2003 solidified his impact on the gaming world. In 2008, he co-founded Advance Create, Inc. Our deepest condolences go out to Sato's family and friends during this challenging time.
