European Film Commissions Network Awards Recognize La Palma and Figueira Da Foz as Top Filming Locations in Europe

La Palma in the Canary Islands and Figueira Da Foz in Portugal have been recognized as the top filming locations in Europe. The European Film Commissions Network presented the winners of the Location Awards during the European Film Market at the Berlin Film Festival.

La Palma, part of the Canary Islands in Spain, was honored for its role as a filming location for the Netflix thriller series La Palma. The island won the overall EUFCN Location Award 2025, chosen by a jury that included industry professionals.

This is the second time the Canary Islands have received the Location Award, with El Hierro being recognized in 2019. Representatives from the Canary Islands Film and the Island Council of La Palma accepted the award.

Figueira da Foz, located in Portugal, was nominated for its appearance in the drama series Broken Spies. It won the EUFCN Audience Location Award, which is determined by public online voting.

The recognition of these locations highlights the appeal of Portugal and the Canary Islands for international film and television productions. Both destinations offer exceptional settings and resources for filmmakers.
