Target Theft and Heroin Ingestion: Muncie Couple Arrested for Stealing Collectible Cards

A man and woman were arrested in Muncie for stealing collectible cards from Target using a knife and ingesting heroin while being pursued by the police. Andrew Dart, 35, and Chalista Dart, 36, were apprehended by Muncie law enforcement and charged with theft, narcotics possession, and resisting arrest. Target employees reported that the couple had a history of shoplifting and had previously threatened staff with a knife.
The incident occurred on February 10 at the Target store on N. Barr Street, where employees observed the suspects loading stolen items into a cart. When police arrived, the couple attempted to flee on bicycles in different directions. Despite officers' commands to stop, the suspects continued to pedal away. Chalista Dart was apprehended first, with officers finding collectible cards and drug paraphernalia in her possession.
Andrew Dart was caught shortly after, and during the arrest, he allegedly tried to access items in his pockets, leading to a physical altercation with the police. Syringes containing a brown liquid were discovered on him, along with stolen playing cards and a knife. Andrew claimed to have consumed heroin during the pursuit, prompting medical intervention to counteract the drug's effects.
Andrew Dart is currently held on a $12,500 cash bond, while Chalista Dart's bond is set at $6,000. As of Monday afternoon, formal charges had not been filed against either suspect. The incident underscores the dangers of drug use and criminal behavior, resulting in serious legal consequences for the individuals involved.
