Tragic Two-Car Collision on US 101 in Clallam County: One Fatality, Two Injuries

A fatal two-car collision occurred on US 101 in Clallam County, resulting in one fatality and two serious injuries. The incident occurred near Palo Alto Road, prompting the closure of the highway. Whitefeather/Sequim Bay Road served as an alternative route during the closure. The collision involved a Chevy Silverado and an FJ cruiser, with the Chevy driver crossing the center line and colliding head-on with the FJ cruiser.

The driver of the FJ cruiser, a 34-year-old woman from Lynnwood, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. Tragically, her passenger, a 39-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Chevy Silverado driver, a 39-year-old man from Colorado, was also airlifted to Providence Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver is under investigation for potential charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault pending toxicology results.

Following the crash investigation and clearance of the scene, US 101 was reopened to traffic before 3 a.m. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and vigilance on the roadways.
