Daphne Blake Returns: Mckenna Grace Cast in Netflix's Live-Action 'Scooby-Doo' Series

Mckenna Grace has been cast in the upcoming live-action "Scooby-Doo" series on Netflix. She will portray a young Daphne Blake in the show, which will explore the origins of the Mystery Inc. gang. The series, consisting of eight episodes, was greenlit by Netflix in March 2025 and is described as a contemporary reimagining of the beloved cartoon.

In the show, set during their final summer at camp, childhood friends Shaggy and Daphne (played by Grace) find themselves entangled in a mysterious case involving a lost Great Dane puppy. Teaming up with Velma and Freddy, they embark on a thrilling adventure to unravel a supernatural murder mystery that threatens to reveal their deepest secrets.

This role marks a return to the character of Daphne Blake for Grace, who previously voiced the character in the animated film "Scoob!" in 2020. Grace's impressive acting credits include roles in popular series like "The Handmaid's Tale," "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," and "Young Sheldon," as well as films such as "Captain Marvel" and "Ghostbusters: Afterlife."

The "Scooby-Doo" series will be helmed by writers and showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, with executive producers including André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter. Warner Bros. Television will produce the series, which is part of Berlanti Productions' overall deal with the studio.

The upcoming live-action "Scooby-Doo" series follows a long line of adaptations featuring the iconic characters, including the successful 2002 film and its sequel, "Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed." The franchise has also seen numerous animated iterations since its debut in the late 1960s, solidifying its place in pop culture as a beloved and enduring classic.
