The Controversial Case of Marius Borg Hoiby: Allegations of Rape and Denials Unfold
A young man, Marius Borg Hoiby, the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is facing serious charges, including rape allegations from four women. The incidents are said to have occurred in 2024, with Hoiby being accused of engaging in sexual acts with the women while they were asleep or unconscious. Despite pleading guilty to some lesser offenses, Hoiby denies the rape charges and could face up to 16 years in prison if convicted.
One of the women testified in court about an alleged rape that took place in November 2024. She described feeling tired and unable to participate in the sexual acts, eventually falling asleep only to be woken up by a painful blow to her genital area. The prosecution claims that Hoiby filmed the acts without her knowledge, capturing footage of her while she was asleep.
The events leading to the alleged rapes reportedly occurred after nights of drinking and drug use, with initial consensual sex turning into non-consensual acts while the women were unconscious. Hoiby is said to have filmed multiple videos and taken explicit photos during these incidents, some of which show the women asleep.
Despite the mounting evidence against him, Hoiby continues to maintain that all sexual encounters were consensual. The investigation into the alleged rapes began after Hoiby was arrested for assaulting his partner in August 2024, leading to the discovery of additional suspected offenses captured on his electronic devices.
The case has caused significant embarrassment to the royal family, particularly Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who is dealing with a serious lung illness. Crown Prince Haakon, Mette-Marit's husband, and future king, announced that neither he nor Mette-Marit would attend the trial.
