U2 - Days of Ash: A Tribute to Defiance and Freedom

U2 has recently surprised their fans by releasing a new six-track EP titled U2 – Days of Ash. This EP includes five new songs and a poem, featuring guest appearances by Ed Sheeran and Ukrainian musician-turned-soldier Taras Topolia. The band describes the EP as a direct response to current events and a tribute to those fighting for freedom. The release of this EP precedes a new U2 album expected to be released later in 2026.

Bono expressed his excitement about being back in the studio with the band and highlighted the different mood and themes of the songs on Days of Ash compared to the upcoming album. The EP is described as a collection of songs that couldn't wait to be shared with the world, conveying feelings of defiance and lamentation. Larry Mullen Jr. and Adam Clayton also shared their enthusiasm for the new songs, believing that they stand up to the band's best work.

Some of the tracks on the EP include "American Obituary," inspired by a tragic event in Minneapolis, and "Yours Eternally," featuring Ed Sheeran and Taras Topolia. The latter song will be accompanied by a documentary directed by Ukrainian filmmaker Ilya Mikhaylus, set to be released on February 24 to mark the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. U2 – Days of Ash is currently available on digital platforms, with lyric videos for all the songs on YouTube.

The tracklist for the EP includes "American Obituary," "The Tears of Things," "Song of the Future," "Wildpeace" (featuring a poem by Yehuda Amichai read by Adeola with music by U2 and Jacknife Lee), "One Life At a Time," and "Yours Eternally" featuring Ed Sheeran and Taras Topolia. Fans can now enjoy the new music from U2 and look forward to the upcoming album release.
