Animal Cruelty Investigation: Battle Ground Police Seek Suspects in Blow Dart Shootings
The Battle Ground Police Department in Oregon is currently investigating a series of animal shootings involving blow darts and is actively seeking the individuals responsible for these incidents. A search warrant was executed at a residence where two blowguns were recovered as evidence, along with other items related to the case. Detectives are working to identify the suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.
The case dates back to November 1, 2025, when residents reported seeing young men shooting raccoons and squirrels with blow darts in a neighborhood near South Parkway Avenue and SE 17th Way. Razor-tipped darts were found embedded in various surfaces in the area, and additional reports of similar incidents involving injured animals surfaced during the investigation.
Residents also observed individuals using pellet guns and a possible .22-caliber rifle in the vicinity. In one instance, four ducks were discovered with blow darts lodged in their bodies at Florence Robison Park, less than two miles from the initial incidents. One duck was captured for treatment, while the other three remain missing.
It is illegal to discharge firearms, including BB guns, air compression rifles, blow darts, or similar devices within the city limits of Battle Ground. Violators may face gross misdemeanor charges, as well as potential charges of reckless endangerment and animal cruelty due to the severity of the case.
