Charli XCX Addresses Controversy Surrounding Party Organizer with Alleged Ties to Russia

Charli XCX recently addressed concerns regarding a party organizer she collaborated with who allegedly has ties to Russia. Reports surfaced that model and DJ Anastasia Shevtsova, known as Petit, hosted an afterparty for Charli XCX's mockumentary, The Moment, in Berlin. It was claimed that Shevtsova's mother, Zhanna Shevtsova, is involved with the "Traditsiya" foundation, which reportedly collaborates with Vladimir Putin's Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives on projects in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine. Charli XCX clarified that neither she nor her team were aware of these alleged affiliations surrounding the event in Berlin.
In response to the controversy, Charli XCX took to Instagram to express her stance against the actions of the Russian government in Ukraine and to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Petit also released a statement emphasizing her personal connection to the situation, stating that her family members reside in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, and that she does not wish harm or suffering on anyone.
The Moment made its U.S. debut in late January, preceding the release of Wuthering Heights, a film featuring a soundtrack by Charli XCX. Rolling Stone reviewed the movie at Sundance, describing it as a portrayal of the chaotic world of a touring artist surrounded by industry figures. Despite the controversy surrounding the party organizer, Charli XCX remains focused on her creative endeavors and continues to engage with her audience through her music and projects.
