Country Music Singer Conner Smith Cleared of Misdemeanor Charge in Fatal Germantown Accident

A country music singer involved in a fatal accident in Germantown last June will no longer face a misdemeanor charge. Conner Smith was driving the vehicle that struck and killed 77-year-old Dorothy “Dot” Dobbins. Dobbins was hit while crossing 3rd Avenue North in a marked crosswalk. Smith reportedly assisted Dobbins until paramedics arrived, but she later passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The misdemeanor charge was dropped at the request of Dobbins' family following a civil case. Metro police found no evidence of impairment or distraction on Smith's part during the crash. Further details from the civil case attorney are pending.
