Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 Cast Changes and the Return of Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk
Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 brought about significant changes to the original Daredevil series, particularly in the casting of Vanessa Fisk. Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrayed Kingpin, expressed his strong belief that Ayelet Zurer was the perfect fit for the role of Vanessa Fisk. Despite initial casting decisions, Zurer eventually returned to reprise her role in the Netflix series Daredevil.
During a panel at the Rhode Island Comic-Con in November 2025, D’Onofrio shared his sentiments about the casting of Vanessa Fisk. He emphasized that Ayelet Zurer embodied the character of Vanessa Fisk and that no other actress could compare. Marvel Studios had initially cast Sandrine Holt as Vanessa in the Daredevil revival series, but due to industry strikes in 2023, the decision was made to bring back Zurer for the role.
D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox, who played Daredevil, were vocal about their desire to have the original cast from the Netflix series return for Daredevil: Born Again. They were disappointed when some cast members were not initially included in the revival. However, the majority of the principal cast, including Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, returned for the Disney+ series.
The return of the original cast members and the positive reception of Daredevil: Born Again led to Marvel Studios renewing the series for two more seasons. While the release date for Season 3 is currently unknown, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is set to premiere on March 24, 2026. Fans and critics alike have praised the series, solidifying its place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
